Buffy The Unemployment Slayer

Posted by tbhatt, Jun 21 2006, 06:03 PM

So I am currently in a state of unemployment. You see, I am a theatre technician and currently am layed off from the Sudbury Theatre Centre in Sudbury Ontario, Canada where I work as the Head of Lights and Sound and the Assistant Carpenter. This layoff is the first time in years I've had the opurtunity to have a summer off, like the first time in 10 years, I started working summer jobs when I was 14. So I decided to ambrace the time off, sign up for employment insurance benefits and ride the wave for a couple months. The reason this is pertanent to the title I have given this entry is that I recently purchased all 7 seasons of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and over the last 2 weeks proceeded to watch them all. Just this morning I have finished the extra features of season 7 completing this task. And I must admit, I hadn't really seen any episode since watching season 3 on tv, I kinda quit watching after that due to life commitments that got in the way. I must say I found the series to be quite touching and moving as well as funny and stunning. Although these aren't new revelations on the topic of this show I just felt it important to throw forth my respect yet again for Joss Whedon and his vision in all of the writing he does. As an employee of the Theatre industry I understand exactly how much work goes into it and I can only aspire to have the oportunity to work with someone half as gifted as Joss during my career. Which as I am just beginning, I hope it can be a long and prosperous one.

So this here is my new blog. My recient obsession with all things Whedon makes this a premiere place to host a new blog. Anyway, this is me placing a first entry to avoid it being completely empty.
