So I was in the middle of the black dress with white edging. It has a sash that must be 40 miles long cause it took me 3 days to pin the entire thing. Well I finally finish and begin to sew it down.... when #^$&% fabric starts to move while I sew no matter if I put dozens of pins in it. So I finally figured out how to keep it in place as I sew....slowly. I make it clear down to one side of the uber long sash when I do a gentle tug on the stitching to make sure its ok at the bottom. THE WHOLE THING CAME APART. The satin just wants to fray all of the frikin place. I got a little angry and just went...fine be that way.... I'm not working on you anymore...not for the reunion. (I say that as if the fabric cared) But it made me feel better So it's on hold till I undo the whole damn thing, fray check the WHOLE thing, cut a length of fusible tape and iron it into the edging and THEN attempt to sew it down again. Damn sash....I'll get it for this... But on the happier front the teal fabric arrived from ebay. It's a great color. But it isn't as soft as I expected dress fabric to be. My other fabrics for it are more pliable. But that's what sometimes happens when you deal with an object you wish you could feel before you buy. I think I can make it work though. Picked up the zipper and thread for it. It matches a color they call oriental blue on the thread and zipper. So now I know what color to call the fabric. w/ the sexy shoes Also got a new razr phone. I like it so far. I've been resisting the cell phone culture for some time. But it seems ok so far...
So this past Friday my guy went to watch Fascape with one of his Dr. Who buddies, Craig. I decided to stay in. When he got home he said guess what we are going to Disneyworld on Sunday. I said why? He says cause Craig offered and will get us in. I was like...what free? He nods and I go "Sweet!" Cause the only reason I don't do themepark fun is the freakish cost. $60 for one park! So we wake up and after a snafoo with the palm pilot we make our way to the Magic Kingdom. We met 3 friends there that have annual passes. Craig was an awesome superior guide as he tells us anything we want to know and many things we didn't know. He is a fan of the park but not obsessed with it. It was a glorious day. I got motion sickness from Space Moutain. Every 5 yrs or so I ride a rollar coaster to see if my innards can finally buck up and take it. Turns out they still can't. I suspect at this age they never will. But about 30 seconds from the end of the ride I wasn't liking it at all so I was glad it was over but glad I tried it. Now I know why my mother was green when she came out of it with my then 15 yr old sister when we went to Disneyland when I was 11. I remember seriosly berating her in my head for getting on it when she knew she had high blood pressure. We had to sit down for 45 minutes waiting for her to feel better and cutting in on our fun. When in reality it was probably no more than 20 mins and I should have been thankful I was even there instead of acting so spoiled. I never said what I thought, cause I knew better, but I am sure I scowled. First thing we got on was the Carosel of Progress. It's Peter's favorite. No one ever thinks they will like what seems like such a lame ride, but everyone laughs a little and does marvel at the animatronics they were capable of many years ago. "it's a great big beautiful tomorrow....." Rode some other rides and had a good time just being under 40 and not tired. The one thing I will spend some money on is food....and that I did. After about 2/3 of the day was gone our other three friends decided to get read for a con meeting. Craig told us that our guest tickets were park hoppers! So we made our way to Epcot. I had never been because of the aforementioned aversion to prices. I am just not up for paying another $60 for the priveledge to spend more money. Rode Mission Space. I did the wussy version cause I didn't know what to expect. The two guys took the full version. I enjoyed it throughly though I am glad I didn't stand in line for it. It's rather short but cool. When the guys came out they decided to try the wussy one with me again. Turns out they liked it better. The sensations were somehow better. Who knew? I'd like to add that while we were on the ride Peter grabbed the steering stick, flipped three switches, and said "Here's something you can't do." I love my Wash. Toured the pretty countries. Ate in Japan. Good food. Then we stayed for the fireworks show. It was lovely and I got my camera to try out its new settings. Got some awesome pics. Still love my camera. Just below us on the stairs down from the japanese restaurant...guess who was there vacationing with his family? Warwick Davis. We didn't want to bother him cause he deserves down time too. But it was nice to see him. On the way back on the monorail we saw the Magic Kingdom fireworks show by chance. I'm gonna send a picture CD to my folks. They'll eat this stuff up. And now...the pictures.... http://s5.photobucket.com/albums/y183/vibe...on/IMG_0236.jpg The beautiful castle. I like the gold spirals. Could do without the gold chracters everywhere but Wendy and Peter are a nice touch. http://s5.photobucket.com/albums/y183/vibe...on/IMG_0237.jpg I can tell you who the blue ranger is....but I bet you can't guess who the red ranger is http://s5.photobucket.com/albums/y183/vibe...on/IMG_0242.jpg BABY DUCKS!! http://s5.photobucket.com/albums/y183/vibe...on/IMG_0258.jpg An adorable Snow White. This weekend my sister came to visit and I met my new nephew Brandon for the first time. He is such a laid back baby. He was happy to just chill out with whoever held him. Soft and sweet and with that lovely baby smell. He was curious about everything around him and liked fine tuning his motor skills on the nearest person with a finger. He's adorable with his fine black hair and dark eyes. He's gonna be a very cute little boy. Unfortunately I am a geek. So is my guy. My sister and the rest of my family are not. So I think we bored the hell out of them while they were here. I would have been a better hostess but I was walled up in the kitchen and going back and forth to the barbecue. Oh well, at least they seemed to enjoy some of the TV and vidgames. Went out with my guy today and finally got over to the DOTS to look for new jeans. My old ones I liked tore, one pair were taken, and the other ones looked baggy. I found some lovely new ones that I tried on and they were a bit big. The store was closing so I couldn't try on the smaller ones so I just bought them and hoped they fit. Halelujah they do and I really like them a lot. ![]() Check out my spankin new pockets.... pun intended. Also something else arrived this weekend.... How effin cool are these? I'll be adding them to the costume. Thanks to Jetflair, maker of cool Serenity stuff. Darn, I am out of sunflower seeds.... guess that means I gotta go
So I am a procrastinator. I will let things lie till I feel like getting to them or until I have to get to them. Well not this time.... This past Friday I skipped lunch and went to the grocery store to get soil for my garden, shampoo for my hair, and plant food. Wednesday I had brought potatos for potato salad and ribs to grill and even the cutest picnic basket ever. Got up Saturday morning after a fun night at the movies and got to work...had some cereal, took out all the garbage so I could cook and did the dishes that Peter said he would do 2 days ago, did 2 loads of laundry. I was well on my way potatos were boiling...then I got a headache. I figured I had just overdone it and went to sit down and even prempted the pain with a nice pill. No dice. It got worse till I had to cover my eyes with a nice cold washcloth and slept for 2 hours. Woke up, still had the headache....wow this was a persistant sucker... so I went back to sleep till 1 pm the next day. I felt better but now I notice a slight inbalace on the left side of my face near my ear. May be a little infection... So I'm like I finally get up off my butt to get stuff done and look what happens.... It never goes smooth. So no picnic, hardly any laundry done, apartment still a mess, and weekend gone. BAH The basket in question: Open Well, maybe next weekend....
When I got my new job I immediately made a list of things I wanted/needed to buy with my first few paychecks. I had to go without a lot of things including tuna helper while I looked for decent pay. It's on another computer right now but this is what I remember:
Now I just gotta remember to get a water filter next time I am at the mall. I haven't seen any affordable bira kanzashi I like, and we'll work on the rest.... I have something new also...I have a crown on one tooth and it has decided to venture away from me....so onto my first dental appt without parents around. This will be fun....cept not Onto awesome pictures! http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y183/vibe...on/IMG_0133.jpg http://s5.photobucket.com/albums/y183/viberaphon/pagoda.jpg http://s5.photobucket.com/albums/y183/vibe...on/eolapana.gif ^ My first panoramic image assist pic Peter being silly in front of the TV v http://s5.photobucket.com/albums/y183/vibe...on/IMG_0014.jpg
So the drama. I cannot believe I just said that....well there's a first time for everything. Behold! It's my first drama post! ::sends sparklies and streamers every which way:: I just tasted a nice spoonful of damned if you do and damned if you don't. The other day I defended a girl being picked on by someone who gets to act like he does because I quote "he's like that with everyone" Don't you just love that excuse? It's just so amazingly void of thought. But I have a busy weekend and come back to find the neer-do-well rewarded. ::drapes herself over a fainting couch:: It's SO dramatic. I had to post that here. It's not a journal till you have drama Also I'd like to make an announcement....chicks that sew quilts and hum 80's tunes at work cannot possibly be mean souls. If you find yourself in a fight with one, chances are you are clearly in the wrong. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- On the other hand I had a fantastic time at a masquerade party on Saturday. I danced so much my legs are still doing WTF were you thinking? But I wore a white kimono and made a silver and gold mask with a paper dragon on one side and tall red feathers on the other side and little white and red rhinestones scattered across it. If I get some pictures back I'll have to post them. But I had a magnificent time. Peter wore his new kilt and he had a good time too. I've never seen him so full of life on a dance floor. Chris strutted his stuff in his Dante costume and his wife was beautiful too. It was just an all around great time, the DJ just kept it going with great dance songs that everyone loved. The 300+ teens and the 20 somethings really got down.
I made a little baby quilt for my new nephew. Took me a while to finish it cause I got poor in the middle of it. But then you sew all that parts together, put in the batting, add backing, quilt over the whole damn thing, then add edging and whew you spent more time than you thought you would. It's about 4 ft by 3ft I think. It's nice and comfy. A close up: Real close:
Well I got a new job and I survived the first week of it. It will be so nice not being poor. That was a rough ride there for a while. So far I like it...but DAMN do I make a lot of phone calls out to places. That's nearly all i did my first week. But I did get a reprive though. I took pictures and made ebay auctions with said pictures. Boss was rather happy with them My man went to his parents to spend that with them. I would have gone too but he also went to spend time with one of his drama prone friends I don't care much for. So I skipped the trip. Instead I got a lot done around the house. One of which is FINISHING THE BABY BOY QUILT. Thank goodness. First I had no blue thread, then I was too poor to get any, then I got a job that keeps me too busy to work on it, and now I finally sat down and finished the sucker! So I hold it up in all it's glory! I'll take it to work and get a picture of it to share. I hope my sister likes it enough to let him have it. She is a name brand woman. I don't think she particularly likes home made things but hopefully I did a good enough job so she won't mind. So now I can move on to my other sewing projects! Which is good timing cause I just found out this week that Peter's 10 yr class reunion is in July. So I'll need a sexy new dress so he will have a pretty girl to show off. So what do you think... The black dress in the picture a few entries down? Or the Teal Green dress Gina wore? Also the glory of new lip gloss is grand.
Well I'm 27 now. My birthday was Sunday. This and next year are the last sexy age. That is to say it's the last ages you can say and still sound really sexy. Each age has it's pros and cons I think...at least in theory. People say 16 is the first coming of age...I disagree. 20 is. It's the first decade where someone might take you seriously, and the last decade you can sound sexy. 21 with the drinking 22 is just cool with the double deuce thing going on 23 sounds like you might have a job that doesn't ask if you want fries with that 24 like the number of hours in a day is inherently cool 25 is just sexy. It's legal, slightly responsible, and someone MAY take you seriously 26 the hold over for 25 27 responsible, you own your car and have your own place 28 the hold over from 27 29 oh....that's what 30 looks like....hmm of course this is just what goes on in my head. I know a couple who are 31 and 32 and I would swear up and down they were 25 and 26 with the way they look and act. So I'm clealy just pulling this number thing out of my head.
A couple more pictures from MegaCon last month. The guy in the orange jumpsuit is actually my fiancee. Take that Joss! Wash lives! Oh wait...::hides her Wash from Joss:: Mine! Dunno what I'm laughing at, but I like that it looks like an outtake. I just couldn't keep a straight face while trying to kiss Mal. Oh well. Many thanks to the Kaylee and Simon for the pictures. |
