Hi

I recently posted this on the Browncoats forum that I was sad to hear is closing shortly. I had answered a number of questions on that site but I thought I should post again here as new items have since been listed on our site and there's more to come!!

If you have any questions or looking for anything specifically please just drop me a line at steve.lane@propstore.co.uk - more than happy to help where I can...........

As you are all big fans of Serenity I thought I would let you know that we have just started offering the props and costumes used in the film for sale on our web site.

The first few items have just been listed at http://www.propstore.com with more being added over the next weeks and months.

We have purchased the majority of the props and costumes used in the film so there will be a wide range of pieces from glasses from the Maidenhead Bar scene to complete principle character costumes early this year.

If anybody has any specific items they are looking for please feel free to drop us a line with 'wants' list and we will try to keep you informed as they become available.

Our web site address is http://www.propstore.com

Thanks!

Stephen

Does this depress anybody else? The costume designer auctioning off Mal's coat, this stuff going, does it indicate a general belief that it will never be needed again?

Or am I just looking at a glass that is half empty?

I think they normally do not reuse stuff. In movies, for sets and stuff like that they are all destroyed. This keeps the workers in business for the next movie.

Yah, and sometimes they don't even duplicate an item for a movie or sequel. WHERE IS VERA IN THE MOVIE??

Um, sorry, time for my meds...

I thought Jayne used Vera in the final show down after he'd dropped the other gun.

The Serenity in the movie is not the same set from the TV show. My guess is that if they are planning on future projects, they'll keep the disassembled pieces in storage on a studio warehouse.

If they're not sure what's going to happen, when the sets were struck, they were probably scrapped, but all of the drawings will be kept.

Hey, I've just had a look at some of the stuff they're selling and the site seems to offer layaway with a 20% deposit and up to 6 months of payments.

I haven't actually processed an order so I'm not sure how it works exactly but check out the 'Payment Plans' section if you're drooling over something but haven't worked out how to pay for it yet (like me!).

Yeah, they usually destroy everything. An exception that I know of, is Peter Jackson. He said on his LOTR special features that he got the studio to let him keep the whole set of the Hobbit-hole, Bag-End. He said he plans to put it together sometime and live in it.

Also the actor Viggo Mortensen, he played Aragorn, he bought the horse that he used in the film, so it's his horse now. It's not getting destroyed either.

We do indeed and it's all interest free too!

As another incentive for you guys we have just put together a mailing list recipients special offer which I would like to invite board members in on as well - detailed below :

To celebrate the release of Joss Whedon's Sci - Fi adventure film 'Serenity' on DVD and the opportunity to buy the props and costumes from the film on our web site... every person who places an order with us over the next two weeks will have their details logged for a Serenity prize draw giveaway. We are giving away to one lucky winner one of Wash's famous plastic dinosaurs that was mounted on his console in the film. As an added bonus this has been signed by the Serenity pilot himself Alan Tudyk at a recent Serenity convention.

To qualify for this prize draw you need to place the words 'Serenity Prize Draw' in the comments section on our online order form on any order placed between 4th Jan - 18th Jan inclusive. Free delivery will be included.

Each individual item ordered will qualify as a separate entry. No minimum order value. Name will be selected from all completed transactions on January 18th 10am GMT by independent party. By entering into this draw applicants grant the Prop Store of London permission to post their name in the next newsletter. No cash value alternative to this prize offered.

Click below to see the what one lucky collector will win:

Sure you're not thinking of Hidalgo there? I know he bought the horse that played Hidalgo from that movie because he was so impressed by it.

I believe he bought both TJ (who 'played' Hidalgo) and the horse who 'played' Brego in LORT. Or at least he tried to - I heard Brego's owner wasn't very willing to sell him at first. So actors have a habit of falling for their co-actresses, but looks like Viggo isn't one of them...

But yeah film props and costumes are usually get rid off. No storage in the world could hold them up anyway, the rate Hollywood is making new films... There are exceptions of course and a horse is hardly a prop...

Vigo bought one of the horses that played Shadowfax in LOTR and gave it to it's trainer (who wanted the horse but couldn't afford it)...they talked about this in one of the extras in the ROTK EE set, if memory serves.

I ordered one of those tins, another item I thought would've gone faster than they are, 'cause I'd much rather have one of those than a Reaver prop or an Alliance rifle. I'm officially starting an unsubstantiated rumor that the Chinese writing on the can actually says: "River's Can of Whupass"!

Now if I could just get Summer to autograph it, and Adam to autograph a grenade, and if I had a grenade...
