Hi
I recently posted this on the Browncoats forum that I was sad to hear is closing shortly. I had answered a number of questions on that site but I thought I should post again here as new items have since been listed on our site and there's more to come!! If you have any questions or looking for anything specifically please just drop me a line at steve.lane@propstore.co.uk - more than happy to help where I can........... As you are all big fans of Serenity I thought I would let you know that we have just started offering the props and costumes used in the film for sale on our web site. The first few items have just been listed at http://www.propstore.com with more being added over the next weeks and months. We have purchased the majority of the props and costumes used in the film so there will be a wide range of pieces from glasses from the Maidenhead Bar scene to complete principle character costumes early this year. If anybody has any specific items they are looking for please feel free to drop us a line with 'wants' list and we will try to keep you informed as they become available. Does this depress anybody else? The costume designer auctioning off Mal's coat, this stuff going, does it indicate a general belief that it will never be needed again?
Or am I just looking at a glass that is half empty? |

I think they normally do not reuse stuff. In movies, for sets and stuff like that they are all destroyed. This keeps the workers in business for the next movie.

The Serenity in the movie is not the same set from the TV show. My guess is that if they are planning on future projects, they'll keep the disassembled pieces in storage on a studio warehouse. If they're not sure what's going to happen, when the sets were struck, they were probably scrapped, but all of the drawings will be kept. |

Hey, I've just had a look at some of the stuff they're selling and the site seems to offer layaway with a 20% deposit and up to 6 months of payments.
I haven't actually processed an order so I'm not sure how it works exactly but check out the 'Payment Plans' section if you're drooling over something but haven't worked out how to pay for it yet (like me!). |

Yeah, they usually destroy everything. An exception that I know of, is Peter Jackson. He said on his LOTR special features that he got the studio to let him keep the whole set of the Hobbit-hole, Bag-End. He said he plans to put it together sometime and live in it.
Also the actor Viggo Mortensen, he played Aragorn, he bought the horse that he used in the film, so it's his horse now. It's not getting destroyed either. |

Or at least he tried to - I heard Brego's owner wasn't very willing to sell him at first. So actors have a habit of falling for their co-actresses, but looks like Viggo isn't one of them... But yeah film props and costumes are usually get rid off. No storage in the world could hold them up anyway, the rate Hollywood is making new films... There are exceptions of course and a horse is hardly a prop... :wink: |

There are exceptions of course and a horse is hardly a prop... :wink: Vigo bought one of the horses that played Shadowfax in LOTR and gave it to it's trainer (who wanted the horse but couldn't afford it)...they talked about this in one of the extras in the ROTK EE set, if memory serves. |
