Joss posted this on Whedonesque;
Seriously, what up? I'm pounding the keys (as opposed to staring at them, thank God) on my Amazon movie (which is totally my own idea and not somebody else's from a comic) called Wondrous Lady. Problem: third act. Solution: Cooking class! Yep, I've still got it.
Roll call:
Spike movie! Still trying.
Buffy comics! Wrote ish one, fun fun fun. Looking for a penciller.
Serenity comics: Brett and I have been very very busy and it's rude of you to bring it up. But it's gonna be tight!
Serenity sequel! My phone is silent and withdrawn.
Wondy Gal! It's all about momentum, baby. And cooking class.
Goners! Ready to polish after WW is complete. LOVED the speculation on the character Mia's name. Can't wait to hear what you all say about Violet. (Besides the fact that she is not in any way ultra.)
How I Met Your Mother! I'm truly addicted. "Don't be a hero, Sherbotsky!" Come ON, people!
Jack Green! He shot my two favorite movies last year. Crazy props!
Cheese! Why won't it stop flirting with me?
Okay, bastard people, I'm gone like a thing that's not so much here as elsewhere. Remember me.

Aw...great to hear from the J-Man. Mucho suerte with the writing. I hope it's being fun.
Now, I'm not a writer of screenplays or anything, but that third act cooking lessons thing? No. Not cooking lessons.

Yes, he does!! He's awesome! Joss is boss. Just wish he didn't have to kill off most of the best loved characters on his shows to move the story along. I understand why but it makes me so sad. I still love the shows though.

Well I don't know about in the US... but in Quebec City, there isa store where they make baskets full of cheeses... even better the fancy smancy stinky cheeses. So for his birthday, if people want to... they can send a basket full of stinky cheeses...and port and crackers etc... If they want to.

Well with the Firefly and Serenity DVD's flying off the shelves here in Sydney it's no wonder that Joss is keeping some secrets from us.
I had to fight for the last Firefly boxset last week and there was only 2 copies of Serenity left in the store this morning (last week there was probably at least 2 dozen). Which is always a good sign.
I'd definately support any version of this story that was brought to light. It's fairly rare that you get a sci fi series that isn't powered by special effects and they sacrifice the story for it.
We shouldn't forget that Futurama was given the chop by Fox but was brought back due to dvd sales from the latest boxset.

I'm confused... So are we pushing for a second movie? Or are we pushing for Joss to continue the series that leads up to the movie? In other words, Season two? I would like to see Season Two that way if fills in the blank spaces.
And Gossi, how is it that you know Joss? You work on the set or are you buddies from school?

Where did Gossi say that he was a personal acquaintence of Joss? All he said is that he was reposting the note from the Whedonesque website.
Also, since the Serenity film contracted all the actors for a trilogy, should someone be willing to fund it, it's more likely that we'll get sequels to the movie before getting a tv show. But it all depends on who is willing to produce it. If it turns out that a television station is more interested in saying 'yes' then there will probably be a television series... assuming the actors are not committed in other endeavors. I know Nathan Fillion might be starring in White Noise 2 with Katee Sackoff. And the other actors are in relatively high demand for the most part.
We have to wait and see. Word has it that at least 4 million DVDs have been sold. That's around $80 million dollars in DVDs alone. However, we're not sure how much of that will go to production costs and how much of that is actually cold hard profit for Universal.
Best we can do is wait, buy the DVDs and merchandise, and try to introduce the 'verse to new fans.

Indeed. I'm not a personal acquaintence with Joss. I've bumped into him at a party once.
I'd pretty much chuck the TV show option out the window for legal reasons. The best bet is a movie, as Universal still have the actors under contract (for a limited time span) for a potential sequel or two, if they want to make one.

What legal reasons would prevent a TV series of "Serenity"? Would Fox try to block it? Could they?
When Joss was in Australia, he asked the fans at the Sydney Q&A which would they prefer a sequel, or a TV series, and the concensus was a TV series, Joss commented that he thought so. This is on the Aussie Double Disk DVD.
Personally I would prefer a return to a TV series, it would provide so much more than a mere movie can.
