I recently went looking for some old threads I'd started (specifically, some RWD stuff on both unionization and health care) and can't find them anywhere. They're not even listed under the "see all topics by this member" thing in my profile. Are they gone? Never to be seen again? Have they been donated to some kind of Inter-Web St. Vincent de Paul's or Salvation Army or something?

Hey Squid, if you recall a while back we were having issues, well during that period I trimmed the database some to help resolve the issue, and as such removed threads that hadn't been used for a while. That's where they went. I still have a back up of the forum from before then and so I do still have the old threads stored.

Now that the connection to the database has been stabilised I could try and reintegrate them, but it is beyond my SQL skills at present.

I have actually just completed my CCNA though and am soon to embark on my MCTS in SQL Server, it wont directly give me the precise skills I would need for this but it should give me enough knowledge to be able to work it out, sadly this will take a few months, you can however rest assured that I thoroughly intend to re-integrate all pruned threads.

That makes me ridiculously happy.

Sometimes life will do that. I'll keep checking back every now and then to see if the 生還者 Shēng Huán Zhě fun thread has been restored so I can archive it for my personal enjoyment. I've already archived the Team Thread just in case it disappears. Hang in there.

Only that I have less time than ever. If someone can invent some extra time and give it to me I'll get this sorted. Otherwise, I still promise it is on my list of things to do.

They say time is money. Deposit your money with me, and annually I will pay you a time dividend. (I've still got some work to do on the fine print, though.)
