These were taken within seconds of each other, yet the time stamps are an hour off.

Go figure.

It went wonky awhile ago. I solved the problem by going into my profile and turning off the automatically change for Daylight Savings.
numfarvera
Ahh!
numfarvera
Alright, punk! That's right, I said it...PUNK!

WTF is going on with the site?

I can view it in IE but not in FireFox.

*looks at Dev angrily*
You got somethin' agin' FireFox, son?

Don't make me come over there. icon_mrgreen.gif

Anyways...it's kinda odd.
ecgordon
I'm on Firefox now (and nearly always) and I'm seeing everything just fine.

numfarvera
Me also.

My guess is that Dev is just afraid of the ass-whuppin' I would hafta give him icon_mrgreen.gif and that's why it's fixed.
Penguin
Yep...I bet he's just a quakin' in his boots... icon_biggrin.gif

So speaking of something weird, what's with all the new members? They register, go to a profile... then they seem to go away.

Are they evil spammers or something?

I, too, have noted this. I see 5-7 new names per day. They go into a profile ( I assume their own ) and then you never see them again.

Wassup wif dis?

For example. Our newest member, pypejuips, created an account at 2:36 today. Then s/he logged off at 2:38 and has not returned.
Who joins a forum and then 2 minutes later logs off again? No posts, no personal stuff - no nothing?

If you go to the full member listing & sort descending by join date, you'll see there's TONS of them. It's weird.

OK for a start it's dev, not Dev, and you should know that well enough num. Secondly I regret to tell you I am not quaking in my (makes mental adjustment for american sizes) size 14 boots, although I could be persuaded to use them to step on certain people. And C) yes all those weird registrations are spambots. They can't post without passing verification, so I guess they crawl up their own arses and die.

As for the time thing, it's always sporadically been an issue, I like to think of it as a fun and quirky feature, but you can view it as a problem if you so wish to.

Yeah, the time is an hour off for me now, but I stopped caring. icon_biggrin.gif It's easy, if you try. heh heh.

Thanks for the info dev!
HeroOfCanton
Just be grateful folks--over at GBS, the spammers usually get to make a post or two of their Russian pr0n before they get booted. icon_wink.gif I know there they finally had to stop allowing people to register with Gmail because that's what 98% of the spammers were using.
Joni
Oh, I'm certainly glad the spambots aren't passing registration and we have no Russian pr0n being posted around. *sigh*
Mavourneen
Ah, spamtastic.

I was wondering WTF was going on. Seemed incredibly odd to register then just disappear.
Penguin
Unfortunately an occupational hazzard. It got to the point that I stopped accepting any new members because of the spambots. I would get 30-40 a day and I have a really small site!

Is there any way to make it so they can't register? I mean, our ranks are swelling daily with non existant members. This is ridiculous. This morning I was online early and there were 4 spambots and myself online!

Is there any special way to tell if it's a spambot, other than the seemingly random letters/numbers in their screen name?

When they're online all they do is "view user profile" and then go away. That's the only way I tell...

As you all can see, "Dev", if that's really his name, took almost 7, count'em 7 months to respond to my initial inquiry.

I, for one, am shocked and dismayed at this blatant disregard for the emotional toil his lack of concern and oversight has caused. icon_twisted.gif

There's not much that can be done...it's just like e-mail spam.

If you look at the online users list right now, it shows 14 "guests" are registering. icon_rolleyes.gif
