Hey folks,
I'm trying to neaten things up around the site somewhat and was looking to enlist some assistance.
One avenue of assistance is that I am looking for suggestions as to what changes people would like to see, and what people would like left the hell alone. Also I think we should give separate sub-forums to the more popular tv shows/franchises and would like to hear which you think deserve their own.
Another is that I am tidying up the TV/other stuff area and would appreciate any real TV-heads, especially Americans to help me identify which shows are dead and which continue to exist.
So, let me know.
Cheers

Um... from the way things are moving around out there, it seems you have a good idea of how you want them.
As long as we know where things went, when you're done, I'm good with that. I haven't been watching much actual tv (on the telly, that is) so I can't help with that.
What about teams? Are they fixable? Can passwords be changed yet?

I'm with Joni. As long as I can find it once it's been moved, that's fine.
I could give you a list of shows that are dead, but it seems like the topics would speak to that. Maybe not really for some of the newer shows, though. Most shows are on haitus due to the writer's strike. Some will definitely be returning, but others might not. We really don't know yet.
I don't know if there's a thread for Viva Laughlin, but it's gone and I don't see anyone wanting to discuss it. If there's a thread for it, I doubt anyone wants it.

I definitely like what you've already done.
As far as American TV, I watch BSG, baseball, and my soap opera, so I'm no help.
If there's a job for a technological idiot who doesn't watch TV, let me know, and I'd be more than willing to pitch in.

How about 'General Multimedia Discussion' or or 'General Entertainment Discussion' or something similar instead of 'General TV etc Discussion'?

Much appreciated, have now shifted most of those, I think it will probably take a while for me to get everything moved, as it has to be done from the forum and not the actual thread, and it requires me to keep going over every bloody page in there, although with all the moves i think it's down to something like 16 pages now, so it gets quicker all the time.
Still waiting for any further suggestions, but maybe everyone is entirely happy with things as they are? Seems unlikely with this crowd.

Doing a little housecleaning, I see? Looks great, so far, and should be easier for everyone to find what they're looking for, seems like. A lot of work for you, Dev, but the results should be worth it....brilliant idea!

Hey, I'm a librarian with an unhealthy need to organize sh!t, and I honestly think the way you've rearranged things is quite good. I think you've gotten to know me well enough to know I wouldn't hold back.

I don't have any complaints about it either. It's actually made things much easier to find.

lol. I actually own the DVDs of the network show, not the IFC version. It was quite funny.

I think Count Blah is my favorite character.

OK fine, don't tell me what it was then, just tease me some more.
I've wondered what it was ever since it got a shout in the season 4 opener of Family Guy (along with our beloved Firefly)

lol. The basic premise is this:
Puppets are alive, but discriminated against. They're called Puppish-Americans in the show.
Seth Green's character lives with Greg the Bunny. Greg is trying to find a job. Greg and Seth both end up working at a PBS like station on a Sesame Street type show called Sweet Knuckle Junction, which is Greg's dream job. There are other puppets on the show including Count Blah & Warren the Ape (total snob, and a drunk).
The puppets are very flawed characters. They drink, they have issues, they smoke... Basically, it's about the characters finding their way and having trials and tribulations along the way. It's quite funny.
The opening song goes something like:
We sing and dance
but we don't need pants
and we're just. like. you.
We have regular jobs
but with low doorknobs
and we're just. like. you.
Yes we graduate from Harvard
(at the head of my class)
And if you test sobriety
(I might not pass)
See, there's no strings attached and there's no hand up my...
And we're Juuuuuust Liiiiiiike Yooooooou.

I think you're fine where you're at, without too much more fiddling.

In my experience (which is admittedly and laughably little

), you don't want the board to get
too compartmentalized.

Re the
Sarah Connor and
Chuck threads, I'm torn: I agree they're crew shows, but they're also active shows with a fair amount of posting that people will probably look for in the
GED subform, not in
The Crew subforum. So basically, if I remember where they're at the next time I want to post about those shows, I'm fine with their location. But if I have to spend half an hour trying to remember where they're at, I might yell at you.

(Being the senile cranky old hag that I am!

)

Apr 15 2008, 10:44 AM
Fair enough.
(Psst, wont they be easier to find though as they are in the less crowded subforum?)
cabri
Apr 15 2008, 10:52 AM
It's not so much the crowdedness of the subforum as it is me staring at the Main Index and thinking '
eenie meenie miney moe'. Not that there are any monkeys here, of course.
admin
Apr 15 2008, 11:41 AM
I see your point, but then I would urge you to think, does this star one of the crew? (and the show does not have it's own subforum) Then I shall go to The Crew.
But maybe I think differently from others, so what does everyone else think?

Apr 15 2008, 04:20 PM
This is why I subscribe to threads. This way, whatever I'm interested in will send me a message when someone posts there.
I vote that they be in the crew forum, for the simple fact that there is a BDH, in each show. Then in that case wouldn't SGA be in there as well since Jewel joined on....or would it remain in GED because it's lumped together with SG-1?
Hmmmm....I'm at a loss...

admin
Apr 18 2008, 07:25 AM
Yes. I just hadn't moved it because as gossi had bothered setting up a seperate subforum for it before I somehow perceived it as "special" and didn't want to screw around with.
If however there are no objections then I will move it.
So, objections anyone?

Hey, dev, a couple of things:
Could you add a subtitle to
this thread -- "aka The Goners Forum Thread".
Could you then move it to the Jossverse forum? Because someday there may still be a movie called
Goners. Someday...

All I know is that you suck and deserve to die and you're over-oppressive and stifle my free speech. I am willing to help with whatever criticism of the site and you personally is required.
But if you could devote a sub-forum to the "Spock's Brain" episode of
Star Trek I would be forever indebted and give you hugs and kisses.
