To be honest if I was at home I could do it in very little time (if it would work) but I'm at work and have to do husbandly duties when i arrive home, so i'll just have to see when I can fit it in.

So the rest of the fun section went away? There's only 4 pages... I went to look for DamnStraights thread, since it's her birthday and she pops by once in a while... and there were only 4 pages.

Providing you can get it to work of course, that sounds like a good plan. The only question I have about it is what would happen when this database gets large again?

Actually, this seems to have happened with everything in Real World. I have officially lost my first favorite thread, which was buried in General Discussion, but I still went back and reread every few months. If these threads are really gone for good, with no warning so that we could archive on our own, I will be officially displeased.

Maybe he changed the board's forum-wide default setting for displayed threads. That would mean they're still there, just not accessible right now. *crosses fingers*

Nope, sorry, they've been gone for about three weeks now, I've removed them as they hadn't been posted on for more than 3 months. I still have the original back-up I made of the boards, so I do still have that somewhere. I'll see if I can find a way to reintegrate them at some point.

So, just to voice a slight concern....I'm now getting emails from fourteen minutes ago, and then from two hours ago, then 5 minutes ago, in a random haphazardness. Is this the notifications or my email?

They are all sent when they should be, so it would be either your email, or possibly just the internet.

Or possibly the FBI(Federal Bureau of Investigation)/NSA(National Secretary Agency)/CIA(ChrisIsAll)/MI5(Monkey Investigations 5) whoever reading them.

Hey dev/admin guy!

I am not sure what's up, but I haven't been getting e-mails since sometime during the night, when the threads I'm subscribed to get posted to. There are three threads (the Christopher Eccleston thread in General, the Getting to know you QUESTIONS thread in Fun and my own thread in Fun) that have been posted to today that I haven't gotten e-mails about.
I checked my spam folder and there's nothing in there... and I haven't changed any of my settings recently.
The last e-mail I got was when Code_Red posted a new thread "Google your username" in fun (I'm also subscribed to the fun forum itself). I should have received several since then.
I'll let you know if it starts working soon...
Joni
May 12 2008, 05:10 AM
Well... maybe they were delayed? I just got an e-mail saying that Numfarvera had posted to my thread in Fun, which he has done quite a few times since the last e-mail I got...
so maybe whatever it was that was not working is fixed now?
ETA: Yeah, there's another one that says Num posted to my thread, which he hasn't actually done in a while... so it was a delay somewhere. Maybe one of the tubes was clogged.

ETA: Somebody applied the net-drano to the tubes. Over night/early morning I got a bunch of the delayed e-mails and from the time stamps, the issue was not with the boards, but with something between the boards and gmail, or just gmail.
So... disregard.

I don't know. I usually see the change right away, but I suppose it could have been the web server cache in addition to your computer's cache.

Short term solution:
tools->internet options->general->browsing history->settings->check for newer version->every time I visit.
Better solution:

admin,
I need some help please. Yesterday I made a post to a thread in Mal's Bunk and when I went back today it was gone.
So I reposted today and it looked to me like it posted ok. I took a screenshot just to be sure it was there in case it disappeared again.
Well, sure enough, it disappeared again.
Can you please tell me what's going on, as I've not had any of my posts disappear from anywhere else on the board?
Seems to only be in that one place.
I can post the screen shot if you'd like me to.
Thank you,
Diane

Well, this isn't a board problem... it's totally a user problem, but I'm wondering if there is anything that can be done to help the user in question (me).
Every so often I accidentally hit the "mark all posts read" link. I hate that. It does exactly what it says it will do and it drives me batty when it happens.
I try to be careful and not click it, but it happens anyway.
Is there anything to be done? Does anybody actually use it on purpose?

Really? I just don't understand.

A "mark all UNread" button would make more sense to me.
I don't feel a need to read all the threads, but I like knowing at a glance which ones I have read and which ones have new posts.
