Are all of the teams now closed to all but members? After initially wanting a members only team, I grew to really like random people stopping by.

Our team doesn't have Protected Forum by it, so I don't think it is.

I went to the Member Teams page, and the only ones I had the option of "Team Forum" were the ones I belong to. I noticed this a day or two ago when I tried to go to Nathan Nation, where I had started a thread, and I couldn't get in.

I meant the Austenites forum. I'm sorry about the confusion. When I look at it on the teams page, it doesn't have Protected Forum next to the word In for where the last post was made. I see the name of the thread there instead. The Slightly Irregular forum is the same way as the Austenites forum, so you can tell it's not protected either.

NathanNation appears to be protected now...

What does it mean the teams are protected? And how can we get onto a protected forum? In addition, how can I get a password for Mal's Bunk, which seems to be password protected?

I sent a message to the admin, but cut and dry, if I have to pay in order to post on NathanNation, I'll get out of the forum and tell other Nathan fans on myspace that we have to pay in order to even see the forum. I'm sure some will pay, but my question will be why should we have to?

Nobody has to pay to use the forum. NathanNation -- join the forum using the 'Member Teams' function at the top. Mal's Bunk -- do the same. However, yeah, there's a password issue there I need to fix (it's my fault).

Can teams BE protected yet? I'm thinking of maybe starting a team, but I want it to be password protected/invite only... so is this working?

I can still get into Austenites, too, but NathanNation is all locked up. Is Austenites not fixed yet? Or did you decide to keep it open, HoC?

Pretty Please Gossi, let me create a new team that is protected. (If I already can, just let me know... it's not entirely obvious when I go into the "new team" thingy.)

New teams created no longer have passwords. You need to be a member of the team to be able to get into the forum.

However, old teams have passwords still. But the password's don't display. This is bad, and still needs fixing.

More confusingly, NathanNation is counted as a new team, but some of the newer-older teams (lost yet) don't have passwords, but are still open to all. This is also, and still needs fixing. I can fix this one myself (hurray!), hence why NathanNation got fixed finally.

I'm not a member of Austinites (a new-ish team), but I can read it... is that the expected behavior for new teams?

I want to start a team that people can't read unless they're a member... which sounds like what you're explaining... but since Austinites behaves differently, I am forced to wonder...

I'm also a member of an old team that is passworded and the password seems to work fine... it's asked me to provide the password a few times this week.

I think what he means by "passwords don't display" is that it used to be when you checked out the member team list it would display the password for all the teams you belonged to. It doesn't do this anymore, so if you forget a password, you have to PM someone to get it.

I am also confused on the new/old team thing. Is this just teams that have been created since you upgraded* the board?

Thanks for the explanation gossi. Nathan Nation is what had me confused. I thought the newer teams, like the Austenites and NN, couldn't be password protected, so when I couldn't get into NN any more, I wondered what was going on.
As far as the Austenites, I'm leaving it open. We've had some really interesting people drop by who I would have never thought of inviting and probably would have never thought of asking to join, and I want to keep that going.

Any word yet on when I might be able to mass PM my team?
