Leiasky asked this question on this thread
http://www.fireflyfans.net/thread.asp?b=2&t;=19927 WORLDWIDE Browncoats arranging Charity Serenity Screenings! 48+ cities! 6 Countries! 23+ US States! QUOTE Originally posted by Leiasky: ...but have those of you who are organizing the screenings in your area thought about contacting the press? They tend to be all over Charity screenings, and groups of rabid fan geeks (to the press, that is all we are, but it can be used to our advantage here) would be something they are likely to cover. It would be a way to get coverage out there either by a short piece on tv or in the newspaper. Free publicity. . . and a way for Universal to take notice. SO Charity screening organizers, have you thought about contacting the press? How? What happened? Here are some of the examples I've read about: Gossi sent out this press release: http://www.prweb.com/releases/2006/4/prweb376866.htm (IMG:http://ww1.prweb.com/prfiles/2006/04/24/376866/tN_josswhedon.jpg) theonetruebix has a promote page with logo stuff and podcast stuff with http://www.cantstoptheserenity.com/promote Here are the press hits theonetruebix found http://www.cantstoptheserenity.com/press theonetruebix Portland screening also got in the PAPER PRESS see this thread http://www.serenitymovie.org/browncoats/fo...nity-t6924.html How Portland Found Serenity, Local fans of a sci-fi cult fave go international. NYPinTA has given tickets for the Albany, NY screening to a radio station to give away and also gave a Serenity DVD to a radio person who is going to interview NYPinTA about the screenings. |

Khalor did this:
http://www.fireflyfans.net/thread.asp?b=19&t;=21426#319527 QUOTE Originally posted by Khalor: I sent an email to Google suggesting they put up a Serenity-themed Google logo for June 23rd. Best I could do, I'm afraid. "We want to put you in a safehouse, where you'll be safe." -- Ryan Templer, Graduate Massacre QUOTE Originally posted by Khalor: Well, the designer, Dennis Hwang, did say send in any suggestions... who knows? We can hope. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon_smile.gif) Here's a blog entry from him about that, if you're interested: http://googleblog.blogspot.com/2004/06/ood...of-doodles.html |

Also, a new national press release goes out tomorrow, advance copies of which have been sent to a number of the nationally-known critics who positively reviewed Serenity when it was in release.
Here in Portland, KBOO communtiy radio will have a story during their Wednesday evening news this week, and the other local weekly (The Portland Mercury) will have an item on it on June 22, the day before the screening here. |

That's a great idea! I haven't been on the radio yet. Hopefully tomorrow, mostly so I can get it over with. Everyone keep their fingers crossed for me. I need it. I've been trying to get the local paper to do something on it, but haven't been too successful. Yet. |

If your local paper is like my local paper, they will cover an event after it happens. The only way they cover an event before it happens is if there is a PAID advertisement in the paper for the event. |
