Hey folks, I've just been informed that Mary Parent has left her production company and thus left Universal, to head up MGM. This is bad news for those, like myself who held out some hope for a Serenity sequel. It doesn't actually bury it, but it is the final nail in the coffin. It also means that Goners is a whole lot less likely too.

Rightly so, since Mary Parent's deal to make Serenity is the #1 reason Serenity got made. What are the chances that MGM might buy the rights to more Serenity seeing as how in the same story I saw there was mention of a remake of Robocop and a movie based upon the tv series The Outer Limits? ETA: I also noticed yesterday that this story made Whedonesque, and when I tried to click from here, it took me to a page with no story, so I guessed that perhaps the story had been removed. Anyone have any idea why? |

I've been told MGM is a real mess right now and the odds of them picking up such a project is slim to none. Sorry if I came across all doom and gloom, there is a sort of silver lining to this. It apparently means Joss is now working on the Book comic, given that anything he reveals wont affect any future film production by having us know more than we are supposed to. |

The doom and gloom was my interpretation * blush *, no putting that off on you. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon_smile.gif) I got the impression from the articles I read that indeed Mary Parent had been hired to get MGM headed forward making movies of their own. So yeah... mess fixed...if it all works out well. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon_smile.gif) I love the comics, don't get me wrong... it's just that I love hearing those actors talk. But I'll be happy to hear Book's story, I truly will. I'm always grateful for more of the 'Verse in any form I get it. One of these days, I hope we get novels, if there is never to be stories in filmed form. Which brings me to my next question... What are our chances of more of the 'Verse in another form... say a direct to DVD movie, or a miniseries on HBO or the SciFi channel or an animated film with the actor's voices... in your opinion? Please bear in mind that although I love FF/S very much and always hope for more and always will, I can live just fine with what we have. In other words, I'm not trying to be rabid or whiny.
