Invisibility has been gone for a long time (since the board upgrade). I know a few of us would like to have it back. Is there any chance of that?

Well there is an option in the ACP for anonymous login but the Invision help files dont really tell me if this is invisibility, it seems like it is, but if I enable it I dont think you can then individually select to be invis or not.

I would think anonymous login is it. I don't remember if that was the terminology the previous version used or not, but it must be the same thing. It was a box you could check when you logged into the site. It wasn't something you set in your profile.

This is what it says at skiffy, which also uses an invision board:
QUOTE If you have chosen not to remember your log in details in cookies, or you are accessing the board on another computer, you will need to log into the board to access your member profile and post with your registered name. When you log in, you have the choice to save cookies that will log you in automatically when you return. Do not use this option on a shared computer for security. You can also choose to hide - this will keep your name from appearing in the active users list - if the board administrator allows anonymous logins. However, when I logged in I never found an option to be anonymous. There were many many anonymous users onsite though. Perhaps it's because they're doing a revamp of the site registrations right now, I couldn't log in as my regular account and had to reregister a new email address and it took me multiple attempts to login each time. |

I'm investimagating. I know what should be, and I know what is, I'm just not sure why the two have diverged.
I shall continue to try until I can try no more. Cheers |

Cabri, they're having a peck of trouble right now over there. I can't sign in as FollowMal and am waiting for the admins over there to get all the troubles worked out. My guess is the board isn't working properly at all, therefore it's not a good gauge of what ought to be possible. They have folks getting booted, unable to sign back in, having to sign up with more than one email account, it's pretty crazy right now. |

I only used them as an example because I don't belong to any other invision boards that I can remember. |

I don't belong to any others either.
Hope both invis here and signing in over there start working soon. |

Not at all. I hadn't been there in a while but I had the correct handle, email, and password and still couldn't get in. It wouldn't even let me delete myself. I figure I'll wait until the dust settles and then try it again. If it eventually works, I'll just delete my other account.

So I'm not the only one? Lots of folks having trouble. From a quote I saw on the Uni board, where lots of Skiffy folks have gathered, the Admin him/herself had had issues signing in. You know I didn't go there and post a whole lot, but I miss being able to be me over there. *sigh* I'm waiting for the dust to settle too. |

Ever since my husband, best friend, and another online friend got banned over there (the SoMA Three incident as we like to call it), I've refused to post, but I still PM with people. Sorry for the thread hijack. |

They were banned??
What in the world could have happened to cause that? Sorry... incredulous it happened. That happens so seldom on our boards ( FFF.net, this board and others ) that I just have no experience with that. I've not been off the Firefly board too much over there... visited the BSG board a few times. |

I've not been off the Firefly board too much over there... visited the BSG board a few times. It was specifically on the BSG forum. It's well documented on the Austenites "Topic Nazis" thread and others. I'll go post the short explanation there. |

Cheers I think, as cab posted, it might have said Hide My Online Status or some such. Either way, I do believe that enabling anonymous login in is what you would need to do. I realize that it might have some sort of issue in this version and it's easier said than done, though. Thanks again for looking into it. |
