First, parts of the posted Schedule and observations:
QUOTE *note- Gala/Celebration & Festival/Jublilee together make up the "Jr. Ballroom" Gala / Celebration Festival / Jubilee Please keep this part in mind for later - the Jr Ballroom holds a little over 500. QUOTE 3:00-4:00 "Welcome to the Shindig" QA Jewel Staite & Mark Sheppard 4:00-5:00 "Wicked Boys & A Preacher" QA Adam Baldwin, Feldmans, Michael Fairman, Jonathan Woodward & Ron Glass Well I hope everybody planned on showing up early on Friday, typically at most other events Friday is a get ready day and not so much a kick off the event with Headliner Q&A's, unless those people were unable to make it during other times of the event. I don't know about you but if I was going and had a tight schedule and budget stuff like this chafes cause then you don't get the full expierence of the event if you cannot make it in by then. QUOTE 7:00-7:30 Early Admission "Shindig" VIP Lifetimes & Annuals 7:30-9:30 "Shindig Cocktail" 10:30-2:00 "Browncoat Dance" cash bar Funny enough yet again no alernative schedule for those not attending the cocktail party, had they been planning games or fan discussions would have been a nice addition - to have something for the other 300 people to do for 3 hours. QUOTE Saturday 9:00-10:00 "Fan Activism" Panel with b!X, Good Works, Bedlam Bards & DTI Crew Finally something to do if you don't have photo ops and no need for sleep if you were at the dance the night before. I just hope people not in photo ops are up to particiapate and not hungover. QUOTE 10:00-11:30 "Painting the Town Brown" QA Dress up and listen to the music with Greg Edmonson & Shawna Trpcic Was Shawna on the guest list or is this some cruel typo. Plus wouldn't it be rude if you had a photo op and you had to get up and walk out of the Q&A. I hope guest don't take it the wrong way. QUOTE 11:30-12:30 "The Firefly Gameshow" with John the GamesMaster 12:30-2:00 "Equality Now Auction" Hosted by Mandy Sullivan of Equality Now 2:00-3:00 "Chinese Swearing Class" Hosted by our very own Maria Wow more fan stuff during the daytime - yep really getting your money's worth there - no offence fan panels and auctions are great additions to any event but they are not always the reason people pay the money they do to attend these things and the fact that they are going on during prime event hours while there is nothing else scheduled is just very odd - I guess this is the time they expect you to go take a nap. QUOTE 3:00-6:00 "Autographs" Adam Baldwin, Christina Hendricks, Mark Sheppard, Michael Fairman Jonathan Woodward, Raf & Yan Feldman I am still unsure but aren't you suppose to get the Headliners auto, do you now get the bonus guest autos included or do you still have to buy them? This could get confusing, hopefully the guest are aware of this. QUOTE 6:00-7:00 closed / turn for Banquet/ "Firefly" QA- open seating Ron Glass, Jonathan Woodward Michael Fairman, Mark Sheppard Christina Hendricks This is my quandry, remember the note (*note- Gala/Celebration & Festival/Jublilee together make up the "Jr. Ballroom"). Well here is where it comes into play. They are splitting the room to setup for the banquet at this time. What does that mean, well it means that 200 or more people will not be able to fit into the Firefly Q&A, cause the room was cut into half, hopefully not more than that. Second, it seems that the whole reserved seating thing is out the window in that case. So there is no guarentee that anyone will have a seat availible at that Q&A, first come, first serve and all. Not to mention an overwhelming sardine feeling, and you thought you knew your fellow browcoats before. QUOTE 9:00-10:00 "Trash" QA Nathan Fillion & Christina Hendricks 10:00-11:00 "Dirty Business" QA Mark Sheppard, Nathan Fillion, Yan & Raf Feldman, Michael Fairman Christina Hendricks Whew, made it through the day so far hopefully you are not banking on doing anything else. Maybe your still awake and hopefully somewhat sober by this point. I have been to to many of these events and in all my years unless it was stated up front as a night time event have I never seen regular Q&A's start this late, unless the schedule was really thrown off, but never planned like this. So for the locals I hope you didn't plan on going home to check on the kids, felix, or fido cause if you do you will the main reason some of you are going in the first place to see your BDH. BTW - if it took an hour to change the rooms over for banquets wouldn't it take at least 30min or more to change it back, not to mention making sure the reserve seats are marked correctly in order? Or maybe I'm just being to observey. QUOTE Sunday 9:00-11:00 "Church" with the Reverend Wallet 11:00-1:30 "Done the Impossible" with Brian Wiser and Jeremy Neish 1:30-2:30 "Auction II" 2:30-5:30 "Autographs" Nathan Fillion, Jewel Staite, Ron Glass, Greg Edmonson, Jamie Chambers Brian will also be selling DTI DVDs 5:30-6:30 "Browncoat Trivia Blast" with John the GamesMaster 6:30-8:30 "Serenity Commentary" all guests Wow - not one Q&A at all does that make a sense I am not seeing. So unless you have a special lunch ticket, you will not see any of the BDH until autograph time for 30 seconds. Then at the commentary, and then the lights will be out, so you'll hear them just not see them. Plus I hope nobody has a long drive home or anything Sunday night since you will be late getting out. Well Vicki claims that I rip stuff a part, and since she has made so many bad assumptions already I figure I'd give her this one. Although I'm just observing and it may change, OMG I hope it changes because if I was paying to go to this thing, I might be a bit put off by how things are set now and I sure wouldn't feel aas if I was getting my money's worth. It's not about the ammount of stuff you tyring to do, it's what you do want to do that is important. Breakdown Q&A Times Nathan - 2 hours (back-to-back) Adam - 2 hours Ron - 2 hours Jewel - 1 hour Christina - 3 hours Mark - 3 hours Michael - 3 hours Jonathan - 2 hours Greg - 1 hour Yan & Raf Feldmen - 2 hours And the fact that they never scheduled more than 2 BDH a Q&A is also something that is odd. Not 1 Q&A includes Nathan & Jewel or Nathan & Adam (and these are 2 of the biggest cut ups when they are together). Maybe they had to cut back on Q&A time cause they were only allotted 2 hours a headlining guest but I would have tried to keep the BDH's as much as possible. It boggles the mind and makes one wonder and question if the person who came up with the schedule is a fan of the 'verse at all. With all that said I hope all those still going have fun and don't need to much tylenol while there. |

Don't think all that hasn't crossed our minds. We've just not said it out here yet. You didn't include the photo ops either. That makes it even more strange.
Here's one you will love. People with a BDP and above have to be ready for photo ops 15 mintues after the Wicked Boys & A Preacher Q&A. Not sure how that's going to happen if one takes time to dress for the cocktail party first. Of course, there's only another 15 minutes after the photo ops are over to get ready for said cocktail party, so it's difficult in both directions. |

I figured it did but it needs to get out to more places, then maybe something will get done and changed. Photo ops are a beast unto their own and one that will always be an issue. I think someone should say something about the scedule out here, there and every where. Because nothing will ever get resolved unless people speak up about it. That's why I typically am the one that brings attention to it. If nothing gets done then they cannot say people did not try. You have to remember not everyone reads any or all boards including the events area. While others may read it but do not pay attention to it until it's to late. You pay hard earned cashy money to go to these things the least the promoters can do is make sure all the ducks are alligned for your enjoyment. If you see a problem point it out if nothing gets done about it, well then it doesn't but at least you tried. |

How about the people who are in the unfortunate situation of having to be at a photo op right in the middle of the time they are scheduled to be presenting at the Fan Activism panel? Not only do those of us in the audience have to get up and leave in the middle of what is a very important discussion to many of us, but those on the panel do too.

Believe me I didn't think that was the brightest of all moves either, the better thing would have been to schedule you against something like the banquet, cocktail, lunch, and autos. This way people would have something to do during those times, They could have staggered your panel by 30 min and got you through autos first, then people could come into your panel as they finished up their autos or came to your panel as they waited for their autos to be called. You should never schedule anything against Headliner photo ops except video screenings. Autographs sessions are a bit different in the way they are handled typically that you can schedule panels against it, esspecially if your panel is the central loaction to call the autograph badges from. It can be a bit distracting but it's an acceptable distraction. |

I'm on the fan activism panel and I also have a cocktail party and banquet ticket, so it wouldn't work to schedule the panel opposite those. One of the people on the panel with me will have to leave for her photo op with Nathan.

Well, as I suggested a panel like yours could have been scheduled while autograph were taking place start 30 min later and let the panelist be first in line for autos, while games and others panels could take place during the cocktail and banquet. Those have always been 2 of my least favorite things at events. Either the guest get mobbed at the cocktail party or you hope to heck the guest your sitting with is a conversationalist at the banquet. There is nothing like sitting with a celebrity who does want to talk or at least not to anyone at your table. |
