Abortion Ban Coming To South Dakota

Hi.(warning there is some foul language because I am quite unhappy....)
Ok I just saw this article on the yahoo site, and I dont mean to diss Americans, and I know Canada is not better than America, but with the debates going on in the US....can you blame me for tempting to think that????
Here is an article, discussing guess what: Abortion Ban coming to South Dakota.
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060224/ap_on_...on_south_dakota
Oh fucking JOY!!!!!!!!!! Now, me being queer and a guy(and therefore never will have sex with a woman....), will not have to deal directly with the abortion issue.... but it does not mean I am not concerned.
And now it most probably will be a ban on Abortion in South Dakota. And it will be allowed only when the woman is about to die or something. Not even in cases of incest or rape. This is bloody horrible. And as mentioned in the article... if this becomes wide spread(as in it will be harder for the woman to travel to an abortion clinic out of state)...women will resort to giving themselves abortion, and no naysayers can convince me otherwise. It has happened in the past and it will happen in the future.
Now I am not pro killing fetuses here. Understand me, it is an act of killing, but call me a pragmatist, who believes it is a woman's choice to do what they will to her body, afterall she is the one who has to carry the fetus for 9 bloody months and deal with the problems of the birth, and having to look after the child afterwards. Also, if the woman is desperate enough she will cause her own abortion. And that has its own consequences. I am all for encouraging the woman to have other options like having an immediate adoption ready for the kid, or encouraging the use of contraceptive methods so accidental pregnancies doesnt occur, and have abortion as only a last ditch effort.
Thing is, its also part of a larger issue for me. This is only one part of a trend to turn the clock back for American society(which will have repurcussions good or bad on the rest of the world...). The notion of same-sex marriage is banned in some states. Certain people want to encourage the teaching of creationism(Intelligent design is just creationism dressed up to seem respectable) in science. And now abortion. Anyone see a pattern? I guess the addage"old is new again" can be applied here. Hey its the rage the 19th century is back! Whats going to happen next? Bring back segragation! It was a hoot when it was around! And if anyone says that all of 3 issues, "creationism, same-sex marriage , abortion", are dealt with in the bible, and that segragation is not, I will say "horse shit". Its not like ANYONE ever used the bible to justify slavery or segragation. I am sure that NEVER happened.
Which leads me to another big problem. This is also an issue of one community of people imposing "their" religious beliefs on others, pushing it on others, via legislative measures. If they dont like it fine, don't participate it, but dont push others to follow your way! Even if you think you are the dominant group in the area. Why can't these people leave the rest of us alone. The christians who do not believe in banning abotion and same-sex marriage, and promotion of creationism as science. What about the Atheists? What about people of other religious beliefs? Or they don't count. Separation of Church and State...HA!
Anyway must go.... I may edit this entry to clean it further...

Hello.
I seriously doubt that anyone would be reading this, I am a boring git. And if by chance you are reading this, please give my deflated ego a boost, by posting a comment (nothing negative please). Be fore-warned i go on tangents alot in conversations in real life, so I dont see why this wouldn't occur here. Ok I just read the post below, and its highly personal...so if you arent interested in that kinda stuff.... don't read it!
If any of you have seen my posts on the forum, you will know, that my self-deprecating humour is evident. Why self deprecating? Well in my life, on numerous instances I have felt the world and the people in it, ahve constantly tried to put me down, either by teasing me, or criticising me(in a not so constructive "You are an idiot" kind of way). Now I am not whining about it, its not a sob story, its jsut a fact of life I feel that people in general in this world bring each other down. This may be viewed as pessemistic, and can be optimistic about the world on occasian. I feel that people do that naturally, either on purpose or by accident. My defense mechanism so to speak, is put myself down ina joking way before the other person gets to diss me. How I justify this? Well I feel I rob the other of the oppurtunity, and since I am so gorram smart I could do a better job of it. I have never been good at whipping out witty remarks and stinging repartes at my "oponents" anyways. I never could do that. Its not that I have an ethic against it, its just I have not been good. Believe me, I have tried.
Now I now, there are instances, where people have said postive things to me(especially those that have said negative things before), and you would think i would be elated by that. In fact, I find it a bit disturbing. I am a bit paranoid about that. I know its unreasonable, but if someone says im a good person, or I did a good job, my first instinct is to think ok... they must be thinking something else... I know its unreasonable and paranoid, but I cant help it. I have seen instances where people one day, say good things about a person, and a short time later, rip them apart.
So anyway, to sum up self deprecating humour, awesome defense mechanism, 7 out of 10 therapists disapprove of it. The other 3 are too busy seeking help themselves.(and no thats just regular humour, I wasnt trying to put down therapists...).
